Annotations

Three boxes, mainly with paintings by Albin Egger-Lienz, belonging to the chief commissar for the Alpine lowland operational zone, Gauleiter Franz Hofer, were recovered on January 23, 1945 at Schloss Friedberg (list of recoveries ZL.: 5/1945). The boxes were first opened on June 15, 1951 at the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum (TLMF). Inside were 15 pictures, of which however only 13 were included in the list of recoveries. They all came under the protection of the TLMF (file note ZI.: 175/1951). The items were subsequently inventaried by the TLMF with the remark 'aus dem Besitz des Obersten Kommissars stammend' (i.e. from the belongings of the Chief Commissar). They are now on loan to the TLMF ('Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum') from the State of Tyrol.
